Jump to: Transport Galleries
Your journey to Koh Lanta can seem a little complicated at first especially when you're not familiar with the route and the options available. It gets even more confusing when your also trying to haggle at the airport or pier with local operators. But with hotelATM's online transfer system from Phi Phi Island, Krabi or Phuket getting to and from Koh Lanta couldn't be easier.
The options to get to Koh Lanta are outlined below to give you a better idea of what's involved, but if it all sound too complicated then click here and we'll organize everything for you.
From Phi Phi: From Phi Phi Island there two scheduled ferries per day during the months of November to April which transport visitors to Saladan Ferry Pier on Koh Lanta Yai which is the main section of Koh Lanta and where all the best beaches and hotels are located. If you already have a hotel booked on Koh Lanta many of the larger resorts will have transportation waiting for you at the pier. For the resorts not providing this service it's not difficult to find a taxi to your hotel as Saladan Ferry Pier is probably the busiest place on the island (at least when the ferries arrive). During May to October the scheduled ferries don't make the trip between Phi Phi Island and Koh Lanta so a slight detour via Krabi is required.
From Phuket: From Phuket Airport or a Phuket hotel you'll need transportation to the Pier, from there your best option is a Speedboat directly to Koh Lanta's Saladan Ferry Pier. Since there is no direct ferry from Phuket to Koh Lanta if you prefer the ferry option you'll need to go via Phi Phi Island, from Phi Phi Island you'll catch a second Ferry to Koh Lanta. This is where it gets a little more confusing. The Ferry from Phi Phi Island to Koh Lanta only runs between November and April. So if you plan to visit in June for example; you'll have to go from Phi Phi to Krabi and then from Krabi to Koh Lanta.
From Krabi: Although Koh Lanta is an Island it is possible to get there by Mini Bus (and a few little hops on 2 small car ferries). A Shared minibus collects passengers from Krabi and transports them to their destination on Koh Lanta Yai.
1) Ferry from Ban Hua Hin Pier (on Koh Klang) to Ban Khlong Mak Pier (on Koh Lanta Noi).
2) Ferry from Ban Lang Sot Pier (Koh Lanta Noi) to Ban Saladan Pier (Main Pier of Koh Lanta Yai).
