Diving and snorkeling
Many people come to Koh Lanta for some of the world's best scuba diving in the surrounding Andaman Sea. Dive operators on Koh Lanta have close access to the dive sites at Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ha, Koh Rok, Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. Dive sites tend to reflect the scenery and marine life of the area with names like Shark Point, Anemone Reef and the King Cruiser Wreck.
Also, since the island group around Koh Lanta comprises many islands, each offering beautiful underwater scenery, there are plenty of day-trips or longer trips for snorkeling. The most popular destination for snorkeling is Koh Rok with a square kilometer of spectacular coral reef.
Koh Lanta Sailing
Sailing, island hopping and boat tours are another beautiful and relaxing pastime and there are some good anchorages around Koh Lanta.
Catamaran rentals are possible from several of the larger resorts.
Koh Lanta Kayaking
Kayaking is a nice way to explore the scenic beauty of Koh Lanta. Paddling through the mangrove forest, the towering cliffs and exploring the caves.
The best place to enjoy kayaking is on Koh Talabeng. The mangroves are seen as especially important as due to their biodiversity and ecological significance.
Koh Lanta Gamefishing
Three different kinds of game fishing trip are offered by private long tail boat: half-day, full day and night fishing.
The usual catch is Barracuda and White and Red Snapper among other species of gamefish.

Southern Thailand and Koh Lanta are famous destinations for birding and birdwatching tours. In addition to a beautiful tidal river area, there are several islands just off the coast of Koh Lanta.
Exploring Koh Lanta
A tropical island like Koh Lanta invites to be explored on your own. Hire a car, rent a bike, or better still go with a local guide.
Tours are available (many of them can be booked right in your hotel in Koh Lanta) giving you an insight into the local area, stopping at rubber plantationsnd visiting local sea gypsy villages and elephant trekking or hiking and caving are options available.
